Prof. Anisur Rahman Student Hardship Loan

Purpose
To meet the sudden financial crisis of ULAB students, a short-term financial loan is introduced. A current student may apply and get the loan for the following reasons:
- Medical treatment cost of a financial guardian or student himself/herself
- Death or disability of the financial guardian.

Procedure
The continuing students of ULAB may apply for this loan by submitting the application to the Registrar of ULAB in plain paper or email to [email protected]. Students MUST clearly state the reasons why s/he believe to be eligible for the hardship fund.

Eligibility
To be considered for the loan, the applicant must
- Be a regular full-time student of graduate or undergraduate program;
- Never came under disciplinary measures;
- Not on probation at the time of application.
- Credit to be completed 63 for UG and 20 for Graduate
- UG Students may apply only after completing 63 credits and Graduate after completing 20 credits. Students of MA in English (1 Year) may apply after completing 15 credits.

Terms
- The loan will be provided for any amount not to exceed Taka 30,000 or 75% of the total tuition fee, whichever is less, for the next applicable term;
- Maximum loan period will be four months;
- The loan will be repayable in equal monthly installments (maximum 4);
- A student would be eligible to apply once in a calendar year;
- Each Installment will include Tk 500 as a transaction fee. The following table explains the repayment scheme:

- The sanctioned loan amount would be transferred directly to the concerned ULAB student account. In no case cash will be payable to the student;
- The repayment date (due date) would be counted from the date of sanction;
- If any installment is paid after three working days (grace period), a fine of Taka 500 (five hundred) would be charged
- The recipient must repay the loan within 4 months. Otherwise, the student will be barred from any academic activity at ULAB (what form of bar, clarity).
